FAQ

  • What is Alcoholics Anonymous (AA)?

Alcoholics Anonymous is a worldwide fellowship of people who share their experience, strength, and hope to help each other recover from alcoholism. It is not affiliated with any religion, political group, or outside organization.

  • Do you have to pay to join AA?

No. There are no dues or fees for membership. AA is self-supporting through voluntary contributions.

  • Who can join AA?

The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. AA is open to anyone, regardless of age, background, or beliefs.

  • What does LAI do?

The Lancaster Area Intergroup functions like a local service center that helps connect individual AA groups with each other and with the public. It does not govern or control groups — each AA group remains autonomous — but the Intergroup offers services that are easier to provide collectively than individually.

  • How can someone stay informed about LAI’s news and updates?

Sign up via email to receive their newsletter/updates.

    Follow their Facebook page.

  • What is the primary mission of the Lancaster Area Intergroup (LAI)?

To provide resources to begin the journey toward recovery from alcoholism and to adhere to AA’s Three Legacies of Recovery, Unity, and Service.
